Aam ka panna (Serves:3-4; Preparation Time: 20 minutes)


  • 4-5 raw mangoes (500 gms)
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1/3 cup sugar (less sweet)/ 1/2 cup sugar (more sweet)
  • 1 tsp roasted and ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp black salt
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Wash the raw mangoes, keep them in a poly bag/polythene and microwave for about 6 minutes (or till tender); one can boil them in a pressure cooker as well

  • Once they have cooled down, peel off the skin and scoop out the pulp

  • Tear and wash the mint leaves

  • In a mixer/blender, mix all the ingredients adding about 1/2 cup water to obtain a thick paste; you can refrigerate the mixture and use it for up to 3-5 days

  • To prepare the drink, dilute 6-8 tsp of the paste in cold water (on the rocks!) and serve chilled – enjoy this refreshing drink on a sizzling summer afternoon!
